Mari Cox
Events Manager
Mari Cox, a graduate of Capital University with a degree in public relations, brings a wealth of personal passion and professional experience to the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO). Her career spans a wide range of impactful work across both professional and nonprofit sectors, as well as within elementary, secondary, and postsecondary education settings.
Most recently, Mari served as Programs Coordinator for Special Olympics Ohio, where she worked closely with TOPS students and elite athletes at The Ohio State University.
Nationally recognized as “Caden’s Mom,” Mari is the proud mother of Caden Cox, who made history as the first person born with Down syndrome to play and score in a college football game. Throughout Caden’s life, Mari has been a passionate advocate for inclusion and accessibility, championing opportunities in academics, athletics, community engagement, and independent living.
As a keynote speaker, Mari shares the stage with her son Caden to promote advocacy, acceptance, and inclusion. Together, they have inspired audiences across the country, speaking at regional and national conferences for Down syndrome associations, Special Olympics organizations, and professional education groups.
In addition to her advocacy work, Mari is also a proud mom to Zane, a strength and conditioning football coach at Tiffin University. Caden continues his journey as a student intern with The Ohio State University football strength and conditioning staff. He is living proof of the message that drives Mari’s work: Every barrier can be kicked down with courage, heart, and opportunity.
