About Us

For the past 40 years, we have advocated through the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO) for families, which has inspired programs like Learning Aid Ohio and Adult Literacy Ohio. And over the years, DSACO has become the parent organization over these two programs, which benefit both the Down syndrome community and the developmental disability community throughout Ohio.

And while we want to elevate the voices and needs of families and people with developmental disabilities, we also want DSACO to remain focused on the Down syndrome community. That is why our Governing Board introduced ElevateDD – a platform dedicated to this statewide advocacy work. This platform creates space for advocacy, education, and innovation for the developmental disability community in Ohio, while allowing DSACO to preserve the dedicated Down syndrome community families value most.

The ElevateDD name represents what drives our advocacy, education, and innovation: elevating the voices of people with developmental disabilities, elevating the needs of families, and elevating advocacy issues to leaders and decision makers.
