Amina Said

Somali Family Navigator

Amina Said joined the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO) team in October 2022 and currently leads the Somali Outreach program. In this role, she serves as a bridge between DSACO and Somali community, providing outreach, resources and culturally relevant support for families who have a loved one with down syndrome or other development disabilities. Amina organizes and host community events that celebrate diversity and inclusion while helping families access essential services, educational tools, and emotional support.

Amina’s passion for health and community advocacy began early in her career and continues to guide her work. She is dedicated to ensuring that families (especially those from immigrant and refugee backgrounds) feel seen, heard, and empowered to access the resources they need.

Originally from Southwest Michigan, Amina has lived in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and children for the past 13 years. She is a proud graduate of Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!). Outside of her professional work, Amina enjoys traveling, exploring new cultures, and spending quality time with her family.  She also loves hosting gatherings, watching her favorite TV shows, and finding creative ways to connect with her community through shared experiences.
