Rachel Heiber
Program Manager
Rachel Heiber is the Program Manager of Adult Literacy Ohio, a statewide initiative dedicated to elevating access for adults with disabilities through literacy. In this role, Rachel leads program development, operations, and partnerships that empower learners to build essential reading, writing, communication, and workplace skills.
With a background as an intervention specialist and a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, Rachel brings a deep understanding of how quality supports and customized instruction can help people achieve their personal and professional goals. Her approach centers on recognizing and building upon each person’s unique abilities, equipping them with the right tools, instruction, and encouragement to reach their full potential.
Rachel has been recognized by her local Chamber of Commerce as an Emerging Athena for her leadership and advocacy in the disability community. She has also contributed to statewide and national efforts to advance literacy inclusion, collaborating with The Ohio State University’s LEND Program and Stanford University to evaluate Adult Literacy Ohio’s outcomes and refine best practices. Additionally, she has presented at the Coalition on Adult Basic Education’s national conference about the impact and importance of continuing education for adults with disabilities.
Driven by a belief that literacy is foundational to independence, confidence, and opportunity, Rachel’s work is grounded in the conviction that every person, regardless of disability or circumstance, deserves access to meaningful learning experiences that foster growth and self-determination.
When she is not working, Rachel enjoys hiking, playing tennis, reading, drinking too much coffee, and spending time with her family
