Inclusive Child Care

Ohio PROMISE Supports Families

In October 2023, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Children & Youth Director Kara Wente announced the creation of the Ohio Promote Resources, Opportunities, and Meaningful Inclusion through Support and Education (Ohio PROMISE) program. This new initiative is focused on increasing quality child care services for children who have developmental disabilities.

The Ohio Department of Children & Youth provides eligible parents and guardians with two avenues for accessing financial assistance to help with child care expenses:

  1. Publicly Funded Child Care
Parents and guardians who are at or below 145% of the Federal Poverty Level with child care costs.

  2. Inclusion Scholarship
Parents and guardians who are between 146%-200% of the Federal Poverty Level and recently denied publicly funded child care.
